Monday, November 28, 2016
Second grade teacher Mrs. Mary Hayden was named the recipient of the fourth Betsey King Award at the Thanksgiving Service on November 23rd. This award was established by the Lelong Family Fund to recognize an outstanding member of the St. George's faculty. It also serves to honor Betsey King, founding head of the school, as well as a dedicated teacher, fundraiser and supporter of St. George's throughout its early history.
Mrs. Hayden has served St. George's for 23 years and is the chairman of the Lower School math department. She is a positive role model within our school community, focuses on the educational growth of the whole child and is always willing to work before school and during her free time to make sure that her students succeed. Many years ago she started the 2nd grade Poetry Assembly tradition which is a highlight of the year for our 2nd grade students.
Congratulations to Mrs. Hayden!
